Host

Roger Johnson

We are delighted to welcome our wonderful host this evening, Roger Johnson. Roger is the face of the BBC in the north west. He has presented BBC North West Tonight since 2011 and is also a familiar face on BBC Breakfast. His interviewees range from Prime Ministers to England football Managers and he has developed a reputation with the audience for a no nonsense interviewing style. Roger grew up in Stoke-On-Trent and has appeared on a variety of programmes – in both news and sport. In fact, he holds the distinction of (probably) being the only person to commentate on Match of the Day and BBC News on the same day! When he’s not at work, he can often be found enjoying the countryside with his family. “This is the third year I’ve been involved with the Echo Environment Awards – but the second time I’ve been alone in a remote studio talking to myself! I hope we’ll all be together again in 2022. Covid-19 has dominated our lives for the past year – but the challenges of the environment will be with us for much longer. This is a really important year, with the COP26 summit being held in Glasgow in November. I am pleased to be with you again to celebrate all the excellent work done across Merseyside this year. Wherever you are watching, I hope you enjoy the evening.
